John Ramsey leaves job with Jaleo - 1999

Associated Press

John Ramsey has left his executive position with Jaleo North America, a computer software firm that worked with high-definition television projects, a company spokesman said.

A Boulder County grand jury is investigating the death of Ramsey's 6-year-old daughter, JonBenét, whose body was found in the family's home in Boulder in 1996.

Jaleo North America, a branch of the Madrid, Spain-based Jaleo International, confirmed Friday that Ramsey, 55, has stepped down as president and chief executive officer. The company last month closed its office in Atlanta, where Ramsey and his family now live, and moved its base of operations to Seattle.

Ramsey's "initial investment is still there," said Andrew Takacs, an account executive for sales and marketing at Jaleo. "It is just that functionality-wise, he is no longer with the company."

John and Patsy Ramsey have said they are innocent in their daughter's death.

The little girl's body was found beaten and strangled seven hours after her mother told police she'd found a ransom note demanding $118,000.

At that time, John Ramsey was president and CEO of Access Graphics, a Boulder software distributorship with more than $1 billion in sales in 1996.
