Little Miss Colorado and other stuff
#3
During June of 1994 the Ramsey family packed up and headed over to West Virginia to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Miss West Virginia Pageant. Patsy had won the title back in 1977, and her sister Pam won the crown in 1980. At the time of the anniversary event Patsy was still receiving chemo therapy treatments, leaving her bald. Never one to back down, she put on a wig and bright, red evening gown, and took to the stage to perform “A Gershwin Melody".

Three year old JonBenet was amongst the audience. She sat in her grandmother, Nedra’s lap, completely enthralled by pageant theatrics. Albert Marks, the president of Miss America Pageants at that time, presented Patsy’s parents with a special plaque in commendation for having two daughters compete in the national Miss America pageant. As he handed the Paughs their award, he took notice the young girl sitting on Nedra’s lap, and said she looked like a future Miss America. The following summer, JonBenet competed in her first pageant, where she took home her first crown and title of “Little Miss Charlevoix”.
