Jonbenet Ramsey (Homicide)

JonBenet Ramsey was six years old when she was reported missing on December 26, 1996, after her family reported finding a ransom note inside their home in the 700 block of 15th Street. Her body was found in a basement room, and a later autopsy revealed that the cause of her death was strangulation.

Anyone with information about JonBenet Ramsey’s homicide is asked to contact the Boulder Police Department Tipline at 303-441-1974 or BouldersMostWanted@bouldercolorado.gov. Those who have information but wish to remain anonymous may contact the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips may also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at crimeshurt.com. Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward from Crime Stoppers.

Because the case is approaching a 20-year milestone, the department has been receiving a significant number of media and community inquiries. This video has been created to express the department’s continued commitment to this open case and demonstrate the level of investigation that has occurred to date, while also protecting the integrity of the ongoing investigation. JonBenet was six years old when she was reported missing from her family home on Dec. 26, 1996. She was later found deceased in the home. Members of the Boulder Police Department will not be participating in interviews related to this investigation. This video may be used as the department’s official statement.
